MedijanaArchaeological site Mediana is located on the former Roman road "Via militaris". Mediana is one of the most important archaeological sites from late antiquity in southeast Europe. It was built during the reign of Emperor Constantine the Great and his successors, and as a temporary residence was used by six Roman emperors. The site contains numerous remains of buildings and objects that testify to the life of the Roman aristocracy and the local population: luxurious mansions, barns, a craft center, thermal baths and the remains of a villa with peristyle, which was adorned with rich mosaic floors. A part of Roman stone sculptures - portraits of Roman deities, jewelry, coins and other everyday objects found at Mediana can also be seen in the Archaeological Hall of the National Museum in Niš.
